Visitation
Visiting Approval Process and Restrictions (Colorado DOC)
Colorado DOC explains here how to get onto an incarcerated person's visiting list and who will be refused. Applicants complete Visitor Application AR 300-01A, attach a copy of a current valid photo ID and return it to the facility where the person is housed; only one adult name is allowed per application and incomplete applications may be rejected. A background check is run annually, and anyone approved who has not visited for a year is moved to inactive status and must reapply with a fresh clearance. Anyone with a felony or misdemeanour warrant is denied in-person, non-contact and video visits, although they may remain on the phone list. People who served a prison sentence must wait three years past completion of their sentence, other felony adjudications carry a one-year wait, and co-defendants and victims are excluded absent written approval from the administrative head. Minors visiting with an adult relative who is not their guardian need AR Form 300-01F.
