Visitation

Visiting an Idaho Prison Resident (Idaho DOC)

Idaho DOC's visiting page explains that every prospective visitor must complete a background check and a visiting application, and that there are separate routes for residents held in Idaho and those housed out of state. Applications for Idaho facilities go directly to the institution where the person is housed, and visitors should wait until a newly arrived resident has been classified because no visits are allowed during reception and diagnostics; processing normally takes two to four weeks and the resident is responsible for passing on the decision. Applications for out-of-state facilities must instead be submitted online and must not be mailed to the prison. No paper money is allowed in visiting rooms, only coins in clear plastic bags or cards for vending machines, and no outside food, pictures, oils, sunglasses or documents may be brought in. Introducing contraband is a crime under Idaho Code 18-2510 carrying up to five years' imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
