Visitation

Visitation Rules and FAQ (Rhode Island DOC)

RIDOC's visitation page sets out who may visit someone at the ACI and how to get on a visiting list. Visitors must pass both BCI and NCIC background checks; people with felony records, pending charges or probation generally cannot visit unless they are immediate family approved by the warden or Assistant Director. Sentenced inmates may list nine visitors, plus two additional people approved only to deposit money. A visitor's name may appear on only one inmate's list at a time, and removal is followed by a 30-day wait. Visits more than 75 miles from Cranston count as long distance, with four allowed per calendar year. Visitors must show a driver's licence, military ID or state-issued ID, pass through a metal detector, follow the dress code, and may bring up to $10 in change in a clear bag for vending machines. Inmates in disciplinary confinement may see only attorneys and clergy of record.
