Visitation
Visitation and Visitor Registration (Indiana DOC)
Indiana DOC's visitation page sets out the three-step registration process families must follow. Every visitor has to create a ViaPath account and be approved before scheduling either in-person or online visits, then submit supplemental documentation to the facility's visitation coordinator, with the department warning that missing documentation can delay or cause rejection of an application. Scheduling on the ViaPath platform always runs on Eastern Time, even for facilities in the Central time zone. The page reproduces the policy statement that the department encourages contact with family and friends because reintegration works better when social relationships are maintained, and notes that the number of visitors and length of visits can be limited by each facility's schedule, space and staffing. It also warns that all offenders and visitors are subject to search, that refusal to be searched means the visit is denied, and that any visitor caught trafficking is permanently banned from every IDOC facility.
