Visitation
Virtual Visitation FAQ (South Carolina DOC)
This SCDC handout explains how approved visitors schedule and conduct video visits with people in South Carolina state prisons. Only people already on the inmate's approved visitation list may request a virtual visit, and each participant must create their own account using the exact name on the approved list. Visits must be booked at least three days and no more than seven days in advance, can be modified two days ahead and cancelled one day ahead. Virtual visits cost 16 cents per minute, start on the hour and may run up to 50 minutes, with a maximum of four approved participants. Photo ID is checked for visitors age 10 and older and a certified long-form birth certificate for younger children. Visits are recorded and reviewed, bedrooms and bathrooms are prohibited locations, and rule violations can suspend visiting privileges.
