Parole & Reentry
Public Comment Sessions and Written Comment Instructions (Kansas)
The Kansas Prisoner Review Board holds monthly public comment sessions that let victims, family, public officials, community members and other interested people express support, opposition or concern about people scheduled for parole hearings the following month. A representative from the KDOC Office of Victim Services attends each session, and victims registered through that office receive direct confidential notification under K.S.A. 74-7335. The page gives specific guidance on writing a comment: people commenting in support should list concrete help they can provide in the community such as residence, a job or transportation, describe changes they have observed, and note any risk areas; people commenting in opposition should describe the present physical, psychological, emotional or financial impact and state any special conditions they want the Board to consider. Separate support and oppose comment forms are provided, and comments may be mailed, faxed, emailed or submitted through an online form.
