Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Connecticut DOC)
The Connecticut Department of Correction PREA page states the department has issued an Administrative Directive establishing a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse and sexual harassment of inmates and links Administrative Directive 6.12. It explains that the PREA Investigations Unit, established in June 2013, investigates all allegations of sexual abuse within CT DOC and accepts complaints from any concerned individual, and that cases involving potentially criminal conduct are referred to the Connecticut State Police for investigation and possible prosecution. The page notes the inmate population can call a toll-free number to report allegations directly to the PREA Investigations Unit, the Connecticut State Police and the Victims/Advocate office, and lists a PREA Investigation Unit hotline of 770-743-7783 and the PREA Director's Office at 24 Wolcott Hill Rd., Wethersfield, CT 06109, phone 860-692-7681. Annual PREA investigation statistics from 2013 onward and facility and halfway house audit reports are published on the page.
