New Hampshire DOC Division of Professional Standards

The Division of Professional Standards is the New Hampshire Department of Corrections unit that conducts internal affairs, criminal and administrative investigations and audits relating to all aspects of department operations and programs, expressly including complaints and grievances. The division also drafts and recommends department policies and rules and runs the resident disciplinary process. Its Hearings Bureau processes resident property claims under $500 and adjudicates administrative disciplinary matters, holding disciplinary hearings at all NHDOC facilities under Administrative Rule COR 311.01. The division's Investigation Bureau is split between two sections, one based at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord and one at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin, with 14 investigators who handle assaults, introduction of contraband, escapes and internal affairs investigations, supported by four K-9 teams. A third arm conducts audits of kitchen, payroll and canteen operations.
