Grievance & Complaints

Michigan Legislative Corrections Ombudsman (Michigan)

A nonpartisan legislative agency created in 1975 (MCL 4.351-4.364) that investigates complaints about the state prison system from legislators, prisoners, family members and MDOC staff, covering alleged violations of law or MDOC policy and significant health or safety issues. Prisoners generally must complete the grievance process first; family and friends can contact the office by phone or email.
