Grievance & Complaints
Maryland Inmate Grievance Office
The Inmate Grievance Office has jurisdiction over all grievance complaints filed by incarcerated individuals against Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services officials and employees. Grievances that are not administratively dismissed for procedural or substantive reasons are scheduled for hearings before an administrative law judge at the Office of Administrative Hearings. Hearings are held in correctional institutions across the state and are usually conducted by videoconference, and the presiding judge issues a written decision. If the judge concludes a grievance has merit, the written decision goes to the Secretary of the department for review and a final administrative decision. The office is located at 6776 Reisterstown Road, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21215 and can be reached at 410-585-3840.
