Mail Guidelines for Idaho Prison Residents (Idaho DOC)
Idaho DOC's mail page, last updated 24 September 2026, explains what family and friends may send. Residents may receive letters and photos but no packages, and photos may not be Polaroids or show nudity; personal letters are opened and searched for contraband. Stamps and stationery sent from outside are not accepted, so residents must buy envelopes and postage from commissary, while indigent residents are provided stationery and postage for one personal letter a week. The page gives the four-line addressing format and the PO Box for each Boise-area prison, including ISCC PO Box 70010, ISCI PO Box 14 and IMSI and SBWCC PO Box 51. Books, magazines and newspapers cannot be sent directly and must come with a receipt from the publisher or an approved vendor; the approved list includes Edward R. Hamilton, Thrift Books, Sure Shot Books and the Prison Book Program, and Amazon is not approved. Softcover books must be no larger than 11 by 8.5 by 3 inches.
