Incoming Mail Policies and Procedures (Illinois DOC)

Official Illinois DOC incoming mail policy. Non-privileged mail is scanned or photocopied in colour and distributed electronically or as printouts, with envelopes or paper larger than 8.5 by 14 inches not scanned. Guidance covers writing in black ink, avoiding glitter and glue, separate handling for confidential attorney mail, and the multi-factor authentication system for privileged mail introduced from July 2026.
