Frequently Asked Questions for Families (Connecticut DOC)
Connecticut DOC's FAQ answers the practical questions families ask most. It confirms that correspondence must include the inmate's full name and number plus the facility address, that there is no limit on letters, and that padded envelopes slow delivery and should be avoided; it also lists the six categories of people an inmate may not write to. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls and each completes a calling list of up to ten numbers for social contact, with credit card calls, third-party billing and call forwarding prohibited. The visiting answer explains the application route through the inmate's counselor, the two to three week processing time, the warden's discretion to allow a courtesy visit for up to two adult immediate family members, and the authorised visitor list sizes of five, seven or ten depending on facility level. Money can be sent by money order with a remitter form to Inmate Trust Fund, P.O. Box 290800, Wethersfield, CT 06129-0800, or electronically through JPay, TouchPay or Western Union.
