FAQs About Inmate Phones (South Carolina DOC)
This SCDC handout answers the questions families most often hit when calls from a South Carolina prison stop connecting. It explains that a number may be blocked because the local phone company has no billing and collection agreement with SCDC's inmate phone provider, or because the household account is past due, and gives the line to call to block or unblock a number. It describes the vendor's monthly courtesy credit limit, how to clear a restriction by paying the local provider in full, and how to raise the limit by mailing six months of paid bills to the AdvancePay Service Department. It also warns that call forwarding, three-way calling, call transfer, cell phones and cordless phones will cause calls to be terminated with no credit issued, and points to a PrePay program.
