Division of Health Services (New York DOCCS)

The New York DOCCS Division of Health Services page states the division's mission: to assure that all incarcerated individuals in DOCCS custody have access to medically necessary health and mental health care to protect their health and safety and that of staff and visitors. Health Services provides primary medical care at all DOCCS correctional facilities and keeps physicians on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency care, and contracts with specialty physicians and tertiary care hospitals for higher levels of care. Its core services are listed as primary medical care and dental care, with mental health provided separately by the New York State Office of Mental Health. The page notes that issues involving an individual's care are confidential under HIPAA and directs anyone with questions or concerns about a person in DOCCS care to contact the correctional facility where that person resides.
