Correctional Mental Health Services (Idaho DOC)
The Idaho Department of Correction mental health page describes Correctional Mental Health Care Services, which identifies and serves all residents with mental health needs. It states plainly that all IDOC residents have the right to mental health care and the right to refuse it, and that all mental health care provided is free of charge. Services are described as comparable to those in the community and designed as a continuum from initial incarceration through release, ranging from lower-level support up to secure living units specifically designed for people with serious mental illness. Treatment is provided by qualified mental health professionals licensed through the Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses, and all IDOC prisons are accredited and periodically audited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The page was last updated July 29, 2026.
