Contact Someone in a Massachusetts Prison (Massachusetts DOC)

Massachusetts Department of Correction page on reaching someone in state prison by mail, email or phone. Letters must include the person's full name, commitment number and the complete address of the prison; mail for someone released or transferred is forwarded where possible and otherwise returned. All incoming mail is opened for inspection and outgoing mail may be read under certain conditions. Family and friends can send email through Corrlinks Secure Mail at $0.25 per message, but incarcerated people cannot initiate email and may only reply to someone who wrote first; the cost of messages rejected for objectionable matter is not refunded and the recipient may face sanctions under 103 CMR 430. Incarcerated individuals have access to free phone calls in all prisons and are responsible for keeping their own list of approved numbers. Attorneys sending privileged mail are directed to the Attorney Verification System.
