Minnesota DOC page on writing to someone in a state facility. Effective November 1, 2024 all regular non-privileged mail is processed by TextBehind and must be addressed to the person's first and last name and OID, the MCF facility name with Minnesota spelled out in full, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131; TextBehind copies every item and mails the copy to the facility with a cover letter listing the sender, recipient and page count. TextBehind does not accept legal mail, money orders, personal checks, gift cards or cash. Books must be shipped directly from approved vendors or nonprofits to the facility address, with the approved list including Books N Things, Hamilton Books, HarperCollins, Hachette, Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster. Attorney-client privileged mail needs a verified QR code plus the attorney's name in the return address. JPay email costs 40 cents a stamp, and denied mail can be appealed to the facility Correspondence Review Authority.
