Communication: Mail and Phone Rules (Utah DOC)

The Utah Department of Corrections communication page gives the current rules for writing and calling someone at the Utah State Correctional Facility or Central Utah Correctional Facility. Since January 5, 2026, all personal non-legal mail is processed by UDC mail centres at PO Box 165300, Salt Lake City, UT 84116 for USCF and PO Box 550, Gunnison, UT 84634 for CUCF. The mailroom processes no more than five pages per mailing, letters must be handwritten or typed on one side of 8.5 by 11 inch paper, and only standard #10 envelopes are accepted. Postcards and greeting cards are not permitted, photographs must be sent through an approved photo vendor, and all mail is scanned and printed in colour with scans kept 30 days and originals destroyed. Phone service runs at $0.10 per minute for local, intrastate and interstate calls plus tax. The page also lists prohibited mail items and how attorneys send privileged legal mail.
