Board Hearings: Types, Attendance and Participation (Oregon)

The Oregon Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision explains that its primary task at many hearings is determining a person's efforts toward rehabilitation and current risk to reoffend, and that before a release decision it orders a psychological evaluation including a risk assessment. For hearings on or after May 7, 2025 the Board holds hearings in person inside the Oregon Department of Corrections at either the Oregon State Penitentiary or the Oregon State Correctional Institution. Under OAR 255-030-0026, victims and their representatives, district attorney representatives, and adult-in-custody support persons who will give a statement may participate in person or by video link, and out-of-state support persons may request remote participation. Members of the public may attend in person after submitting an attendance request form and passing Department of Corrections screening. The page defines each hearing type, including Prison Term, Personal Review, Parole Consideration for dangerous offenders, Exit Interview, Murder Review, Parole Postponement and Future Disposition.
