Behavioral Health Operations (Ohio DRC)

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Behavioral Health page sets out the mental health and substance use services available to incarcerated Ohioans, delivered by qualified professionals on an inpatient or outpatient basis according to need. Listed services are treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, psychoeducational programs, activity therapy, trauma treatment and interventions, psychotropic medication, crisis stabilization, self-harm management, reentry planning and supports tailored to the individual's treatment plan. ODRC implemented a peer support program in 2021 in which trained peer supporters with lived experience of mental health or substance use treatment extend treatment beyond the clinical setting, with the opportunity to become certified before release. The page also covers screening, identification and referral for survivors of human trafficking, and Sex Offender Services including the Sex Offender Risk Reduction Center at the Correctional Reception Center. For questions or concerns about an individual's care it directs families to contact the relevant facility and ask to speak to the mental health manager, and gives the Behavioral Health Operations phone number.
